Bitterness allows Satan a foothold...

"Do not give the devil a foothold" is a call to arms-to engage in the battle that will define our lives. Are you ceding ground? Are you watchful? Are you winning? ground? Are you watchful?

Every Christian is engaged in a fierce, life-defining battle with Satan. He is our "adversary"(1 Pet 5:8), and he has crafted elaborate "wiles"(Eph 6:11) and "devices"(2 Cor 2:11) to gain ground and win us to his side. In his instruction on dealing with festering anger, Paul warns us: "do not give the devil a foothold"-don't make it any easier on him!
This teaches us that we must give no ground to the devil. The smallest ground, the tiniest foothold, the briefest opportunity is to be zealously guarded against falling into his hand.

He is so territorial that he wants it all, money, health, marriage, relationships, employment, business, and ministry. But to start his campaign to conquer all those areas of our lives, he must first find an entry point from which he can begin his campaign of unleashing his devilish destruction in our lives.

We often throw open the door to the devil when we:
Refuse to let go of old hurts and wounds.
Refuse to acknowledge what we did wrong.

Refuse to stop judging others for their grievances.
Refuse to admit we were wrong too.
Refuse to say, “I’m sorry” when we’re wrong.
Refuse to lay down our “rights” for others.
In this text, unresolved anger that continues to poison our minds and harden into bitterness and malice gives the devil an opening. We will struggle enough with the devil without willingly placing ourselves within his grasp. If you and I do any of these things, we leave a “marked-off place” through which the devil can use to destroy us. But we don’t have to fall victim to the enemy’s tactics. We can say, “No, you’re not going to do this!” Don't give the devil even a foothold!" Put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to fulfill its lusts" (Rom 13:14).

We are more than conquerors through Jesus Christ, so we don’t have to let the devil run all over us. The Bible boldly declares, “…Greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world” (1 John 4:4). let us be full of mercy, long-suffering, and slow to anger.

CONQUER WITH LOVE ABOVE ALL !!!!

PRAYER:  Holy Spirit come take the criticism out of our hearts and cause the love of God in us to flow towards every aspect of our lives. Lord, we  ask You to help us  keep the doors to our hearts and soul closed to the devil! so we ask  You to help us  stay free of offense, free of unforgiveness, and free of bitterness. As you gave king Solomon wisdom to govern your people and to distinguish between right and wrong. Give us the same wisdom to guard our hearts, to realize all wrong attitudes and  “entry points” through which the devil tries to gain territory with.

we pray this in JESUS' name!!

  1. I can relate to this battle that we christians face against the enemy known as the devil.Like Peter said we must nt even give yhe enemy ground nt even the tinnniest bi in our lives.lol This reminds me of an experience i once had,I remeber walking into a store and asking the lady at the backery for two donuts. She then attends to my request and packs both donuts in one box but tags one price on the box instead of two since there was two donuts in the box. When i get to the counter the till operater tags for one donut and thats wen i notice that she scand a price for one donut instead of two.At that moment i realised i was faced with a discision to make on whether to tel her there r two donuts in the box and not one.The enemy attackd me wit a loud voice sayin "jus leave it n walk away" bt stil small voice says "tell her the truth". LOL I chose the truth....frm that i realised the enemy attacks us in small ways everyday n its up to us like you said in your prayer to ask yhe holy spirit to guide us thru it all so that we beleivers make the rut choice.Thank you for the post.
